Hello! I’m Teeko, a UX/UI Designer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Currently, I’m a UX Designer at Patterson Companies where I work with a wonderful digital experience team. However, in my previous life, I was a Project Manager turned Social Media expert. I’ve been able to use my multidisciplinary experiences for my transition into UX/UI Design.
I apply a human-centered approach to every project I work on. By leveraging my previous skills, my approach emphasizes visual design, thorough research, and delivering value and results.
I anticipate my design approach to grow and reinvent over the years, however, my fundamental values have remained the same. I value radical empathy, diversity, equity, & inclusion, and inclusive designs.
Outside of UX, I’m a dog mom to Truffle, my lazy chow. I have two cute nephews that I spoil way too much. And I try to stay creatively inspired, so I photograph from time to time. I also own and operate a small jewelry shop called Teeko + Co.
My Design Approach
VISUAL DESIGN
From scale, hierarchy, balance, contrast, and gestalt, I embody these principles through years of art school and churning out creative projects.
THOROUGH RESEARCH
From information gathering and analysis, I believe in critical thinking when synthesizing complex information.
DELIVERING VALUE & RESULTS
From my previous years as a project manager, facilitating safe collaboration is the key to making high-quality decisions and generating value-based results.
My Fundamental values
RADICAL EMPATHY
I have a deep sense of awareness and respect for peoples’ experiences and perspectives.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION
As a person who has experienced being “othered,” my ability to actively listen and understand power dynamics and privilege has helped resolve conflict and advocate for others.
INCLUSIVE DESIGNS
I have the capacity to identify accessibility barriers, remain flexible, and adapt designs to align with WCAG and Section 508.
My sweet Life
I was featured in City Pages People’s Issue. I was part of the team that created one of the largest murals in Minnesota. I spoke in Vancouver, BC on placemaking. I was featured in a calendar. Sometimes I take food photos. And when I moved back to Minneapolis, I created a podcast with a group of girlfriends just for fun! Not my first time in Star Tribune but it was cool to be quoted for Galentine’s Day. Oh, and somehow I’m part of a crossword puzzle!
Another of my endeavors was my undergrad in Fine Arts with a focus on Photography, along with my graduate degree in Arts and Cultural Leadership. This gave me the opportunity to work at the intersection of economic development, policy, and art.
